About the Artist

Zen Impressionism Through Landscapes
Art is a conduit from the soul and to the soul.
Dana is a self-taught artist whose journey began at the age of 8 when he received an art kit for Christmas. By the time he was 10, he was a regular visitor to the Art Gallery of Ontario, where he spent countless hours admiring the works of both classical Masters and contemporary artists. This passion for art extended into his adulthood, where he continued to explore galleries around the world, sketching the masterpieces that inspired him.
While his career took him through various professions, art remained a passionate hobby, with occasional sales to friends and acquaintances who were drawn to his work. Since retiring in 2023, Dana has dedicated himself fully to his art, focusing on defining what it means to create and how his personal vision manifests on canvas.
Most of his artwork consists of landscapes that emerge directly from his soul rather than from the observation of nature or photographs. Inspired by memories of places he's visited, as well as dreamlike and imaginary settings, Dana allows his moods to guide the creation of these pieces. His work is not bound by the need for realistic details, precise colours, or even the constraints of physical reality as we know it.
For Dana, art is a deeply emotional experience. He believes it should evoke feelings in the viewer rather than invite intellectual analysis or dissection. Art, to him, should establish a personal, emotional connection that transcends political, cultural, religious, spiritual, social, or technical interpretations. While these elements can certainly be an important and even necessary element in an art work, Dana feels its true power lies in its ability to resonate with the viewer on a more profound, personal level.
